Position Description

Program Associate
Digital Library Federation

Description: The Digital Library Federation seeks a lively, committed individual to fill this critical component of our small central staff. The Program Associate performs both a support and a catalytic role, sharing several tasks with the Executive Director and taking responsibility for others. On-job training is available and expected.


Position Duties and Descriptions


DLF Initiatives

  • Responsibility, with the Executive Director, for supporting, administering, and participating in the various working groups and initiatives we run.
  • Ability to represent the Executive Director at events and meetings when needed.

Forums

  • Primary responsibility to run the organizational side of our semi-annual DLF Forums

Publication and Outreach

  • Support for the various XML-based publishing enterprises; shares responsibility for the website updating and for the preparation of master documents for xhtml, PDF and print-on-demand publishing.
  • Role in increasing the outreach to our members and in increasing the visibility of our work beyond the membership
  • Opportunity to write articles for CLIR, DLF, and other publications on specific DLF initiatives

Qualifications: An advanced degree and a library background are highly desirable, as are demonstrable organizational skills, and evidence of strong oral and written communication skills.

Location: Dupont Circle, Washington, DC.

Travel: The job requires a willingness to travel, to attend DLF Forums, DLF initiative meetings, and digital library conferences.

Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience; full benefits.
