The workshop on use assessment methods will be held at the Hyatt Fisherman's Wharf Hotel, in San Francisco, California on 4 May 2001 from 9am - 1:30pm. Based on a survey conducted by DLF Distinguished Fellow, Denise Troll, this instructional event will survey methods for evaluating the use of digital library collections and services. Each of three sessions will be devoted to a particular assessment method and with reference to real case studies, cover how, when, and why a particular method should be used. Methods to be covered during the workshop will include focus groups and surveys; user protocols; and heuristic evaluation, paper prototypes and scenarios. No registration fee will be charged to workshop participants. Places at the workshop are strictly limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. To register for the workshop send an email to dlf_forum@clir.org giving name, title, and institutional affiliation. Please also include the phrase "workshop registration" as the subject heading in your email. The DLF has reserved a number of rooms at the Hyatt Fisherman's Wharf Hotel for workshop participants. Rooms can be booked at the DLF Forum rate of $195 provided reservations are made with the Hyatt before April 16, 2001 and dependant on availability.
