		• New standards have portmanteau nature – Many parts, many options, as already noted in the case of PDF • JPEG2000 – Part 1.  .jp2 (core lossless and lossy compression schemes for continuous tone, replacement for JPEG) – Part 2.  .jpx (extensions, including more capabilities for embedding metadata) – Part 6.  .jpm (multi-layer images, can embed other bitstream encodings, including bitonal) • MPEG-4 – Many ‘profiles’ for different contexts • Which parts of these standards will be widely adopted?
