A note on sustainability • DLF seeks to incubate digital library initiatives, not to own and operate them them in perpetuity (it’s not a McD franchise) • Sustainability is a more secure strategy than digital “life support” (whether in the form of speculative ongoing grant funding, dependence upon ongoing institutional and consortial investment, or ongoing government subsidy) • Sustainability requires the creation of value and holds us to a high standard
