Invalid Headers
•JPEG files do not start with a SOI
marker (0xFFD8)
–“SOI: Start of image marker – Marks the start of a
compressed image represented in the
interchange format or abbreviated format”
[ISO/IEC 10918-1:1994, p. 34]
–SOI marker is the JPEG magic number; without it,
rendering tools will not recognize
the file as a JPEG
